Our audience feedback

Here I went around the school and showed my film to several people and filmed what they thought of it what they liked and what they didn't like. We did this so that we know how our film is perceived and what could be improved.
We also got some written feedback on our film on you-tube and Facebook.

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

This vlog was created show how me and Alex progressed while working on this film. We did this to show how we progressed.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Panels from left to right and top to bottom

1st panel: This shows our Title. It is positioned center frame as opposed to the other titles which are mostly of in a corner apart from some of the actors. This is done so that the audience can differentiate between the Title of the film and the rest. It is also in a much larger font so that it different from every other title.

2nd panel: This shows the setting of our film. Our location was supposed to be set in a remote forest because interrogation like that would attract attention in reality.

3rd panel: This both shows our title font and also a cinematography technique we used. The font name is Lemon/Milk which i used because I liked the large bold letters and it also felt like a font which would have been used in the 50's. The cinematography part of this shot is the use of our crane which we used here to set the scene and its atmosphere. It performs a panning shot showing all the characters and the beating up.

4th panel: This is a high shot moving upwards this is our last shot this is used to give a dramatic effect before the rest of the movie plays. It shows what just happens and gives the audience time to reflect on what just happened.

5th panel: Here we have a representation of our story and genre. It is obvious that the entire piece is in black and white but this clearly shows that this is supposed to be a film noir. This knife threatening part is also a bit where the sub genre of the movie is shown which is crime. Its not something which you would normally see in any other sub genre.

6th panel: This shows the costume we used. We stuck mostly to suits, black trousers and white shirts as they were readily available and it would be something which would be worn in this time period.

7th panel:This is another part of cinematography. This shows a match on action shot as the person just started walking and we know can see his feet walking.

8th Panel: This shows the subtitles we used as the actors spoke in German, we chose german as we where familiar with the language but the idea was to hint towards mafia. The subtitles are there so that the audience knows what is going on but we choose not use major dialogue as to only hint to it so that the narrative is easy to under stand.

9th panel: In this last panel the shot of all our actors is shown. I like this shot as it shows the hierarchy of our characters. You can clearly see who is in charge as he is separated from the other actors. And between the two other the one beating the other up is clearly in charge there.

Final Edit

This is the final edit for our media film. It was edited by me, filmed by me and Alex. After some more feedback from the second edit. We changed some more titles making more of them black. We made on black at first for it to contrast with the background and be readable but later some people told us if most of the titles black and white alternating it would look better. We also had feedback finding the sound in the dialogue part a bit off so tried my best to match the punching sound to the motion and reducing some background noise during dialogue. We also moved our production company indent to the very beginning as its better for the flow of the movie.

Production

While shooting we used a home made crane for some of our higher and panning shots. Here you can see us use it. We decided to use it as it gave us more shots and variants to play with and utilize in our film.

For editing I used adobe premiere pro its a good program and it offers a wide variety  of editing techniques.

props and costumes

This Prezi shows the props and costumes we intend to use for film. This was done so that we knew what props we had to bring and how to dress our actors. We have chosen them in a way that we believe you could have come across them in the time our film is set.

Our cast and Crew

Our cast

David Phillip

He is our first actor he plays the person getting beaten up. We have chosen him as he has the right body  of the person we imagined who would play that role.

Sam Bown
He is the actor to play the role of the larger person beating up the the first actor. We have chosen him as he is very tall and strong just as we imagined the character. He is also a drama student and experienced in acting.

Alexander Freakley

Alexander FreakleyAlex is a very skilled camera man and editor. He has lots of experience and will be co director, co cameraman and co writer. He will also partake in acting as the third character who wields the knife. We choose him due to a last minute drop out. He doesn't look like how we initially thought of the character but as a tall skinny person he has given the character a different style.

Chris is cast as co editor co director and cameraman. He has some editing experience as well as directing.

risk assesment

Below you can find the risk assessment i have created for our shoot. This was done to ensure the safety of our actors and crew.

location and location shots

These are the location shots for our shooting location. We have chosen this area as it looks quite secluded and away from most civilization. It looks as so as if it was in the middle of a Forrest. This is good as it shows isolation and the scene which is something which should take place in such an environment.

location shots taken by Alex Freakley.

shot list

This is the shotlist/shooting script of our film.

The shots we have chosen here are an array of long panning shots as well as medium closeups and high shots. We did this to give our self a plan for when we film. We created it using a template give to us by our teacher but we were unable to upload it so we had to copy it into this format.
this shot list was created by Alexander Freakly.

animatic of our story board

This is the animatic we crated from our storyboard with the music we intend to use in our final piece. This was created by Alexander Freakley.

sound preparation

In our film we want to use both Foley sounds as well as a score.
The score we have chosen to accompany parts of our film is this one:

This will not be used as dietetic  music but as a background score. It is not music which is natural to the time our film is set in but as it is non dietetic we think it is good to use as it sets the right mood for our film and it has some faster paced and louder parts near the end which can fit nicely towards the end of our clip. Even though this is not music which was typical for the 50's.

Here is a screen shot of the webpage which shows its usage rights.
